ALIA VIC: VALA Soundbites

Did you miss VALA2014? Want to hear what’s been happening in libraries since then? Come to VALA Soundbites, a joint ALIA VIC and VALA event. Hear three engaging speakers carry on from their VALA presentations, plus insights from the VALA Committee. Speakers of the evening include Brendan Fitzgerald of Infoxchange, Ben Kreunen of Melbourne University, Holley Adams and Hugh Rundle of Boroondara Libraries, and David Feighan of VALA.

River of Opportunities

The River of Opportunities events have been held in a variety of regional locations and is traditionally held in alternate years to the National Library and Information Technicians symposium. In 2014, we will hold the eighth River of Opportunities event in Geelong. The program will enable delegates to examine new initiatives that might be utilised in their own workplace and provide a forum to discuss issues and ideas with colleagues from similar libraries, over one and a half days.

Visit to the Lamm Jewish Library of Australia, ALIA Vic Libtechs

The Lamm Jewish Library of Australia located at 304 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield South (www.makorlibrary.com) sees the merger of Makor Jewish Community Library with the communal libraries of Kadimah, the Holocaust Centre and the Jewish Museum, as well as the archives of the Australian Jewish Genealogical Society and the Australian Jewish Historical Society. The new facility provides improved access to all library collections, increased programs for the community and serves as a hub for communal educational and cultural activity.

RSVPs are not required. Friends and others are welcome to join.
