ALIA and LIANZA are delighted to announce their first joint conference since 1994.
The event will take place between July and September 2018 at a location on the east coast of Australia, with a further joint conference proposed for November 2021 in New Zealand.
LIANZA Executive Director, Joanna Matthew, and ALIA CEO, Sue McKerracher, said: 'We have been building the collaboration between our two associations through information-sharing, recognition of professional qualifications and a Memorandum of Understanding.'
'The 2018 conference will bring together this work and we hope to have other exciting shared initiatives to talk about by then.'
'We are planning to make it a celebration, not only of Australian and New Zealand cultures, but also of the Asia-Oceania region as a whole. We hope to welcome colleagues from across the region and from the wider IFLA community.'
The 2018 conference will be the fourth in a series which began more than 30 years ago.
The first joint Australia-New Zealand conference was held in Christchurch in 1981; the second in Brisbane in 1984, and the third in Wellington in 1994.
The venue and dates for the 2018 event will be announced on the ALIA and LIANZA websites during May.
