The Australian Library and Information Association is pleased to announce that we are offering two scholarships to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
These students must be planning a career in Library and Information Science (LIS) commencing full time or part time study in an ALIA Accredited course at an Australian higher education institution or vocational Registered Training Organisation leading to ALIA Associate or Library Technician membership.
To apply send a one-page statement detailing the applicant's planned LIS professional career, how the scholarship will assist them with their studies, their current resume, and a written reference supporting the application from a member of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation or community.
The scholarship awards the successful applicant with LIA student membership for one year and $5,000 towards learning expenses including giving the recipient the freedom to travel and attend: exams special workshops, lectures or conferences, work experience opportunities, job interviews and networking opportunities.
There is also the possibility of the recipient visiting Canberra for a one-week funded industry experience placement at ALIA House.
Applications open 14 November 2018, and close on 3 February 2019.
