Two ALIA Fellows have been made Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Our sincere congratulations go to John Shipp FALIA, past President of ALIA (1998 and 2015-2016), who received his award for significant service to library and information management in the tertiary education sector, and to emerging technologies; and to Andrew Wells FALIA, who received the AM for significant service to academic librarianship, to the development of innovative information delivery technologies, and to professional councils.
Michael Crouch AO, sponsor and co-sponsor of the State Library of NSW’s National Biography Award, and funder of the AMAZE Michael Crouch Gallery at the Library, which opened in 2013, has been awarded Companion (AC) in the General Division of the Order of Australia.
Lord Mayor of Melbourne Robert Doyle, who will be opening the ALIA Library Design Conference on 19 June, at Library at the Dock, was also made AC.
Julie Cox, former chair of the State Library of Victoria Foundation and member of the State Library of Victoria Board, received the AM, as did archivist Michael Piggott, adjunct lecturer, School of Information Studies, Charles Sturt University.
