The Opportunity

Monash University Library is one of Australia’s leading academic libraries, with a long-standing reputation for a comprehensive collection, technological innovation and professional excellence. The Library strengthens the University by providing outstanding scholarly resources and study facilities and through leadership in research skills development, scholarly communication and use of technology.

An opportunity currently exists within the Libraries Resources Division for a Director, Resources and Technology Services to provide leadership in the development and implementation of innovative and effective technology-based services and solutions within the Library, supporting both internal operations and service deliver to Library users. As a member of the Library’s senior leadership team, the Director, Resources and Technology Services will participate in the overall planning and management of the Monash University Library, in support of the University’s education, research, and engagement strategies.

As the successful candidate, you will oversee the effective implementation of the Library’s Collection Development Policy through appropriate acquisition strategies, monitoring the performance of information resource, document delivery vendors to ensure that the Library obtains effective and efficient supply of materials and related services, and prepare the Library materials budget strategy so that it achieves an appropriate balance in the collection. Utilising your strong leadership abilities you will lead and manage a team of professional staff, including planning and allocating staff resources, developing, coaching and mentoring employees and managing performance to deliver positive outcomes and continuous improvement.

Your extensive knowledge of trends in information service delivery and information technology in an education and research environment, together with demonstrated ability to implement organisational change programmes, develop, and lead staff in a changing environment will enable you to succeed in this position.
