About the opportunity 

The University of Sydney Library offers a wide range of high quality information services to University students, staff and the community to support their learning, teaching, research and scholarship endeavours. The Library supports the University to achieve its internationally recognised research and scholarship profile by providing access to high quality print and electronic information resources and information management services. Library staff work in partnership with the academic community to provide convenient access to high quality information resources and to promote University of Sydney research to the world through its e-Scholarship initiatives. Library environments provide highly valued technology, enriching learning spaces and 24/7 opening hours.

The Library provides services under four major divisions:

  • Central Services
  • Site Services
  • Academic Services
  • Access Services

The Academic Services division manages research support services and resources that support academics, researchers, undergraduate and post graduate students to create and communicate new knowledge. This division is responsible for the delivery and evaluation of information and research skills development programs and online learning materials. In addition, this division will develop and consolidate Rare Books and Special Collections through-the selection and acquisition of material that will enhance support for the research, teaching and community engagement programs of the University.

The Academic Liaison Librarian will develop and deliver quality client-centred Library programs and services for academics, researchers, students and other relevant areas of the University, ensuring that they meet the current and future scholarly information needs of clients and are clearly aligned to emerging trends in information support services and to the strategic direction of the University.

The University Library reserves the right to transfer or rotate the location of this position to any of its Library sites based on workloads, professional development or business needs.

  • Initiate and deliver quality client-centred Library programs and services for academics, researchers, students and others in their designated client group.
