Board of Directors

ALIA is governed by its Board of Directors according to the Association's Constitution and By-laws.  

Directors are elected by Members and successful candidates take office following the Annual General Meeting that usually takes place in May.  

Following amendments made to the ALIA Constitution at the 2019 AGM, a new Board structure will be phased in so that after the 2021 AGM the Board will comprise:

  • President; two year term  

  • General Directors – five positions; two year term

  • Institutional Director – elected by Institutional Members; two year term.

  • Vice President – annual appointment by the Board of one Director other than the President from the current Board membership.

Nominations for Board of Director positions are generally sought between November and January with elections taking place from March to April. Further Information about the election process is available on the Board elections webpage.

Directors sit on Board Sub-Committees and liaise with ALIA Advisory Committees and these are detailed on the Governance and Structure webpage.

ALIA Directors agree to abide by the terms outlined in the ALIA Board of Directors Code of Conduct.
