During the closing session of the 2023 IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Rotterdam President Barbara Lison and Chair of the IFLA Professional Council Te Paea Paringatai conferred several honours and awards on individuals and organisations who have given significant service and made distinguished contributions to the profession.
We are delighted to report that two ALIA Fellows were recognised for their contributions to the international LIS sector.
Janine Schmidt FALIA was awarded the prestigious IFLA Medal. The medal is awarded for distinguished service to IFLA and international librarianship, championing innovative library buildings and design, mentoring authors, and enabling as editor diverse works for IFLA Publications.
Christine Mackenzie FALIA was made an IFLA Honorary Fellow in recognition of her distinguished service to IFLA and the global library field.
We extend our sincere congratulations Janine and Christine on this wonderful achievement and to everyone who was honoured at the event.
Congratulations also go to Vicki McDonald AFALIA who has now officially taken the reins as IFLA President 2023-2025.
