Congratulating the seven members awarded ALIA Fellowship in 2021 

We are delighted to announce that seven of our members were made Fellows of the Australian Libraries and Information Association at the most recent board meeting in December.

The distinction of Fellow is conferred on a member who has reached an exceptionally high standard of proficiency in library and information science, and directly contributed to the aims and objectives of ALIA.
 
Congratulations to the following members:

 

  • Margie Anderson (VIC) – recognised for leadership within ALIA and the LIS sector in advocacy, mentoring and support, and professional development and education.  
  • Laurie Atkinson (VIC)– recognised for contribution to government, law and special libraries, and in shaping library services at a national level.
  • Judy Brooker (NSW)– recognised for driving ALIA’s education and learning agenda, and creating the foundations for the Association’s Professional Pathways initiative.stage.
  • Melanie Foti (Hong Kong)– recognised for expertise in health librarianship and strategic leadership of ALIA’s Health and Libraries Australia Group.
  • Kym Holden (ACT) - recognised for contribution to Australian government libraries, and for work representing government and special libraries on the international stage. 
  • Vanessa Little (ACT) – recognised for contribution to and advocacy for public and heritage libraries and delivering social inclusion, technology training and literacy across the ACT.
  • Cynthia Love (VIC)– recognised for expertise in digital transformation, digital repositories[SM1], and data science and providing an invaluable contribution to discussions about the future of the sector.
 
These members will be added to the ALIA Honours Board second edition when it is published in 2022 and they will be presented with their citations and Fellowship pins at events with colleagues next year. Nominations for ALIA Fellowships are accepted all year round, and more than one fellowship can be offered over a 12-month period.
