ALIA Students and New Graduates

Jack is currently working within the Digitisation team at the Society of Australian Genealogists in Sydney. Previously, worked in the urban development sector as an Urban Planner in Australia, Cambodia and Nepal.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Human Geography from the University of Wollongong, a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma of Information Studies from Charles Sturt University.

Jack joined ALIA SNGG's 2023 GLAMRmatch program and was GLAMRmatched with a mentor in the sector. He is passionate about libraries and local history, connecting people to information and preserving knowledge for future generations. An avid reader, who enjoys listening to (history) podcasts and jazz music; watching films at the cinema; attending GLAMR events; drinking a cappuccino and traveling.

He looks forward to building new connections with people in the sector and advancing curiosity, information sharing and networking opportunities

Rhodora is a recent Bachelor of Arts (Librarianship and Corporate Information Management) graduate from Curtin University. With previous qualifications in the Visual Arts. She frequently exhibits work online and in competitions.

You can find Rhodora at Museum Victorias, Biodiversity Heritage Library at Melbourne Museum, enhancing her librarianship and cataloguing skills. When she is not at the library - you will most likely find her volunteering at OZ Comic-Con in Melbourne.

Rhodora is passionate about lifelong learning, reading and creativity, and looks forward to building new connections and professional development skills with fellow librarians in the ALIA Students and New Graduates Group.

Annalyce is completing her Master of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University and currently holds a student representative position.

She holds an Honours degree in classical music (voice and musicology) and previously completed the Diploma of Library and Information Services. They are interested in working with academic libraries, music and performing arts libraries, and associated special collections. Subject areas of interest include: marginalised artists (especially musicians and composers), digital collections and databases, and governance developments in the higher education sector

April is currently in her final year of the Bachelor of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University and holds a Diploma in Library and Information Services. Since beginning her library journey in 2017, April has worked in secondary school libraries, and for Yarra Plenty Regional Library. She is about to commence her professional placement at a university library where she is excited to be gaining experience working with rare books and special collections.

April is passionate about using creativity to engage people with libraries, supporting reading culture and literacy development in all of its forms. Being dedicated to ongoing professional growth, she is looking forward to collaborating with SNGG members and being part of the support network for new and aspiring GLAMR professionals.

Sheeni, aka Sheeneez, completed her Master of Information Management from RMIT in 2020. She enjoys reading, watching TV shows and trying out new recipes in her spare time. Sheeneez hopes to gain experience to further her understanding of the GLAMR sector and is excited to join ALIA SNGG as a Social Media Coordinator volunteer on the Twitter team.

Emma has a Diploma of Library and Information Services and is completing her Bachelor of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University. She came to libraries because of her love of reading and learning and realised that she could play a part in facilitating effective and enjoyable learning for others.

Presently she is working as a library technician in a K-12 school in Melbourne, however she is open to where her GLAMR career might take her and is interested in learning about diverse information organisations and how they meet the needs of their communities. She is about to commence a volunteer project in an archive and is excited to try her hand at archival cataloguing – metadata and information retrieval is of particular interest to her.

She loves building relationships in the world of library and information. Emma came across the ALIA Students and New Graduates Group while enrolled in her diploma qualification and found it to be an invaluable resource and supportive community while studying with the hope of entering the profession.

Some other loves of Emma’s are reading (absolutely anything), music, food and travel – her favourite places to travel to so far are Mexico and Scotland.

Ryan has been working in library land for over twenty years.  Starting in libraries at the age of 19 with his first real job 3 days after his birthday. His first great success was initiating a preschool storytime at Highett Community branch which did not have a session due to branch size welcoming more than 25 kids with their guardians including Australian swimming champion Nicole Livingston formally Stevenson. Ryan has worked in libraries overseas and when he is not working in libraries, supports people with disabilities with day to day living and community engagement.

Elizabeth is an interdisciplinary researcher and educator working across education, communications, and emerging technologies. She also has a background in community media arts and practice. Elizabeth has long had an interest in pursuing a career in the GLAMR sector and has embarked on her Master of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University. She is passionate about storytelling in all its forms, and lifelong learning, in addition to creative research practice, impacts and outcomes. More recently, she has been involved in creative research translation activities across various research projects. Elizabeth is an Advance Queensland Digital Champion, where she has been involved in activities that contribute to creating more digitally inclusive communities.

I am currently completing my Diploma of Library and Information Services and hope to continue my learning by completing a Bachelor of Information Studies (Specialising in Records and Archive Management) at Charles Sturt University. I have a background in customer service and love building relationships with the people I meet during my day-to-day life.

My passion for library work and information services started from the safe and relaxing environment they provided for me during my childhood. I have an interest and passion for rare books and archives and restoration. Coming across the ALIA Students and New Graduates and its resources will truly help me build and support my studies.

In my free time I am a huge fan of fictional podcasts, books (preferably sociology themed or thrillers if I'm needing a scare) and hanging out with friends and the community.

Eleni is completing a Master of Information Studies through Charles Sturt University. She is transitioning from a career as a speech pathologist & therefore has a particular interest in public, academic & health libraries. She loves encouraging reading to support early communication development & promoting careful evaluation of information sources. Her cup is filled thanks to family, friends, beach swims, good cheese & sci-fi.

Will is a current student at TAFESA completing the Diploma of Library and Information Studies. A lifelong bibliophile, Will is about to begin his first role in an academic library as a Library Experience Officer. Will also volunteers at VICSES Port Phillip Unit and City of Port Phillip Libraries Home Delivery Service.

When not reading and drinking tea Will can be found hiking or playing Pathfinder. Will is excited to be a part of ALIA SNGG and to learn from new colleagues in Library and Information Management.

Louise is a recent Bachelor of Information Studies (Librarian) graduate from Charles Sturt University, with previous educational achievements in the LIS field.  Louise is exploring avenues for employment to fulfill goals of being an information professional.

Louise frequently seeks out voluntary opportunities within the libraries whenever those opportunities arise. She is contributing to Digi Vol digitisation projects, teaches technical concepts to people, and maintains connections with the ALIA mentoring group.

Louise has a background in event management, customer oriented roles.
