ALIA Rare Catch Up, May 2024

People of the Folio: Owners of Shakespeare’s Second Folio
Tuesday 21st May, 4pm (AEST)

Every book has a story to tell and none more so than the State Library of New South Wales’ copy of Shakespeare’s second folio. Over time works of Shakespeare have become highly prized and it is fascinating to uncover past owners and the stories behind them.

Curator Sarah Morley will explore some of the surprising owners of the Library’s second edition of Shakespeare’s collected works, from a nineteenth century Tasmanian woman writer/illustrator to a captivating Shakespearean actress.
