Course Content
Consisting of 4 modules with a time commitment of 1.0-1.5 hours per module, you will investigate:
- History and purpose of copyright- why do we have copyright laws, and how do they work?
- Legalities and practicalities – What does the law say, what are the rights in copyright, what exceptions are allowed, and what are statutory licences and collecting agencies?
- New models & a changing world - technology, fair dealing vs fair use, Creative Commons, OA and safe harbours.
- Libraries & copyright - access, preservation, licensing, responsibilities and advocacy
