Event Description

Dr Lilly Brown, a proud Gumbaynggirr woman and CEO of Magabala Books, together with Rachael Cosentino, Teacher Librarian at St Andrew’s Cathedral School / Gawura School, will explore best practice in developing collections that genuinely reflect the diverse knowledges, cultures, and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Their presentation will emphasise cultural safety and racial literacy, offering practical guidance and real examples to help schools align everyday library practice with core professional values.

This webinar will address the following AITSL teaching standard:  
Standard 6 - Engage in professional learning with the specific focus on 6.2 Engage in professional learning and improve practice. 

This webinar will support the following ALIA Code of Ethics for the Australian School Libraries clause:  
Clause 2 - Human rights, equality, diversity & identity.

Online webinar Zoom - the Zoom link will be provided approximately 2 days prior to the event directly from ALIA Schools.

Shared/team registrations are not permitted. Please register all attendees individually and ensure their personal details are accurate. 

Cancellation Policy

  • Registrations up to 3 weeks prior = full refund
  •  Registrations between 1-2 weeks prior = 50% refund
  •  Registrations cancelled 1 week prior or later = no refund
  • Registrations $10 and under = no refund due to administrative costs


Registrations can be transferred to other individuals at no cost (in the same registration category).
