Search design for system searching.
This workshop will provide step by step guidance on how to most effectively design search strategies to be used in systematic reviews.
This workshop is designed for people with a basic knowledge of systematic reviews who are interested in learning how to design searches. Or, for those with some knowledge of searching for information who want to learn to apply those skills to systematic reviews environment.
This workshop covers all components of search design, starting with the initial design of the search structure, then using word frequency analyses to improve on that structure, followed by novel techniques to maximize the recall of the search. The final step demonstrates how to refine the search to ensure the number of irrelevant search results is as low as possible.
This workshop contains a demonstration of each technique, followed by a tutorial of how to apply that technique to a real systematic review. Although not the focus of the workshop, there will be demonstrations and tutorials of several automation tools used in the design of searches.
