Aust. Evidence Based Practice Librarians' Institute 2024

Aust. Evidence Based Practice Librarians' Institute 2024

Event Description

The Australian Evidence-Based Practice Librarians’ Institute (AEBPLI) is an introduction to Evidence-Based Practice, focusing on question building, searching, critical appraisal of the literature, and advanced topics related to systematic reviews. Facilitated by health sciences librarians from Australia and the US, the curriculum combines content in engaging large group lectures with small group sessions for practising concepts. It is a four-day immersive residential program for hospital and academic librarians to work together in a supportive environment. The 2024 curriculum is designed for hospital and academic librarians supporting clinical practice information needs, research, and teaching and includes:

  • Study designs used in clinical research,
  • Clinical questions to facilitate efficient searching skills to support patient care,
  • Critical appraisal of clinical research, including randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews and qualitative research,
  • Tools and resources to support the development of exhaustive search strategies for systematic reviews and search strategies for complex clinical topics such as clinical redesign
