Wendy Preston

Wendy has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Phys Ed) and began her career teaching Physical Education, Outdoor Education and Science in government secondary schools in Victoria. Over 13 years Wendy was heavily involved with the VCE Outdoor Education Study as Network Leader, Regional Verification Panel Chairperson, script marker, exam setting panel member and Chief Assessor. Wendy moved to Sydney and became a mother and wrote the book Sydney for Kids, published by CHOICE, and created www.sydneyforkids.com.au. Wendy has written articles for Sydney’s Child, the (sydney) magazine and The Sun-Herald. In 2004 Wendy completed a Master’s degree in Early Childhood at Macquarie University, researching time use in families. At this time Wendy became a Management Committee member of Children’s Discovery and worked as a volunteer running events and workshops. From 2012 Wendy was employed as the Education Office with Children’s Discovery. Her role was to develop and deliver family-orientated science workshops for national and international festivals and events, and provide librarian training across the country. Wendy has been involved in creating training materials including training videos and manuals. Towards the end of 2021, she had trained over 500 librarians.
