Dr Simon Wakeling

Dr Simon Wakeling is a lecturer in the School of Information and Communication Studies at Charles Sturt University. His current research focuses on the role and function of public libraries in Australia. Ongoing projects include work funded by the State Library of New South Wales that is exploring how library user needs have evolved in a COVID-changed Australia, a content analysis of public library mission statements, and an investigation of the importance of the library as a community space. Simon has also published extensively on the open access publication and dissemination of research, including a book on the relationship between theory and practice in this area.

Simon has presented at numerous national and international conferences, including Research Applications, Information and Library Studies (RAILS), the ASIS&T Annual Meeting, OCLC EMEA Regional Conference, the Society of Scholarly Publishers (SSP) annual conference, the Conference on Human Information Interaction and Retrieval (CHIIR), and the European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR).
