Bruce Carter

Dr Bruce Carter has worked at the State Library of NSW since 2011. He was co-curator with Margot Riley and Ronald Briggs on the State Library of NSW’s 2020/1 'Coming Out in the 70s' exhibition. His PhD looked at the concept of ‘memory activism’ and the potential in everyday, personal understandings of heritage to challenge social inequities and dominant narratives of the past. Bruce came to library and history work after 15 years as a nurse and in community health services in Sydney's inner-city.
