ALIA Schools Online Forum: Online learning

The second ALIA Schools online forum for 2016 will be held from Wednesday October 19 until Wednesday October 26. The topic is: Online learning.

This online forum is designed to complement a recent face-to-face morning seminar which was held in Melbourne so that all national members have an opportunity to participate. We will be discussing online learning vs learning online, considering ways in which we are currently engaging in online learning and exploring learning opportunities that exist online.

ALIA Schools online forum - Victoria Curriculum

The first online forum for 2016 will commence on Wednesday 27 April and conclude on Wednesday 4 May. The topic is: Victorian curriculum.

We will explore particular aspects of this new curriculum, investigate how it aligns with the Australian curriculum, identify how as teacher librarians we can support its implementation. We will also unpack issues in both the primary and secondary school settings.

The great challenge of this digital age we find ourselves in will be to ensure that what we do - the collection, preservation and management of information is done in a consistent manner which ensures it is accessible in the future. Cataloguing remains one of the best tools we have to guarantee that information, irrespective of its format or content, can be accessed. This 6 week course will cover all the bases.
