ALIA Top End Library and Information Week Dinner

The Library and Information Week dinner is a great place to meet up with your collages. The event will include the ALIA NT Recognition Award and there will also be a presentation of pins for members who have reached their 25 years of ALIA Membership. 

Cost: $38.00 (please bring money with you on the night)

ALIA Top End PD: Free online legal resources for non-law librarians

Ever have people in the library looking for legal material and not sure where to start? This short professional development session will introduce you to some of the freely available resource for conduscting legal research online. This session will be delivered by Rachel Klesch, a liaison librarian at Charles Darwin University. 

 

Cost: gold coin donation for ALIA members and $5 dollars for non-ALIA members.

ALIA Top End: Tour of Palmerston Library

Come and join us for a tour of Palmerston Library in Goyder Square. Palmerston Library has dynamic spaces and housed in a modern building which won a commendation for Public Architecture. The Library offers a wide range of items for loan and also offers a range of activities for children and adults alike.

Where: Palmerston Library, Goyder Square, The Boulevard, Palmerston.

Darwin City Library Tour

Come and have a tour of our wonderful public library in the heart of the city.  The Darwin City Library is an innovative public library, refurbished in 2012 and using RFID. The library is also the home of the Digital Hub.

ALIA TE Library Lovers Day Event

Join the ALIA Top End Group to celebrate Library Lovers’ Day. Take the opportunity to celebrate those who love and support libraries. Meet up with your library collages and enjoys drinks while the sun goes down over the harbour.

ALIA TE End of Year Celebration

Come and join you colleagues for an end of year celebration with the ALIA Top End group. Enjoy dining overlooking the ocean and catch up and meet new friends. Everyone is welcome!

The even this year will be held at The Jetty Restaurant, a Buffet style restaurant with a selection of sea food, South East Asian, Vegetarian as well as gluten free options.

ALIATopEnd AGM

The AGM of the Alia Top End Group will be held at 5.30 on Monday 25 November at the NT Archives in Nightcliff. The AGM will be followed by a tour of the archives.

There is parking on Kelsey Crescent and the entrance is through the gate down the undercover walkway into the building where Katherine will be waiting to greet you.

 

At the AGM all group committee positions will be declared vacant, although there are some current members who are interested in renominating.

ALIA’s annual National Advisory Congresses’ are held in each state and territory in order to provide ample opportunity for members to participate in discussion on policy, planning and topical issues relevant to the Association.

 

This year, it is more important than ever before for ALIA Members to take part because we will be discussing what the future of the profession will be. 

 

This program gives an introduction to the essential skills of staff supervision.
