NSS Wrap up 2014

Thank you for participating in National Simultaneous Storytime 2014 and sharing this vibrant and charming story about Eric the boy who had too many elephants in his house. This year was our biggest year yet with over 460,000 participants in 3,100 libraries, schools, childcare centres and various locations around Australia! We were thrilled to receive all of your wonderful stories and pictures showing us how you celebrated NSS. We hope you enjoyed it, and we look forward to celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime 2015 with you!

Customs House Library NSW 

Ursula Dubosarsky did a special reading of her book Too Many Elephants in this House at Customs House Library in Sydney. Andrew Joyner the illustrator also joined her and drew some elephants in front of the audience. 

Ku-ring-gai Library in St Ives NSW 

St Ives library was lucky to have two very special guests join them to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime along with twenty seven enthusiastic children and toddlers. Too Many Elephants in this House was beautifully read by Margie Abbott  followed by a Mandarin version of the story told  by Journalist  Lucy Chen from SBS. It was a wonderful experience for the children to have Margie present, as she is such a gifted and animated storyteller. Lucy followed and encouraged the children to participate by teaching them a few words of Mandarin.

'It was a great morning and a reward for our kids who got to participate. It felt special to be involved in something that we knew was happening right throughout the country at the same time', said Mr Summers, Junior School Librarian.

Australian International Academy Primary School VIC 

This year A.I.A's 3D class together with their classroom teacher Ms Malika, performing arts teacher Mr Dino and the A.I.A art department created a dramatic reading of Too Many Elephants in this House and they presented it to the WHOLE school - fantastic job everyone!  


St Johns College VIC

Woollahra Library and Information Services, NSW

Woollahra Library and Information Services pulled out all the stops to celebrate NSS this year, what fantastic costumes and activities you planned! 


National Simultaneous Storytime at ALIA House involved an office full of elephants, delicious cupcakes, a morning tea with the newly appointed and previous Board, NSS find-a-word and a reading of the book from Emily our Groups and Events Coordinator.
