The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) calls for library and information professionals across the nation to support the Chief Scientist’s Storytime Pledge, which asks caregivers to read a book with a child.
Sue McKerracher, ALIA CEO says ‘ALIA is pleased to once again support this great initiative, and we encourage everyone to get behind this campaign; to take the pledge both personally and professionally; and to add @alianational to their pledge posts so we can show the level of library support for this campaign.
‘The campaign particularly encourages reading STEM books with children, so this is the perfect opportunity for library staff to highlight those kinds of books in their collections’.
Libraries can support the campaign by displaying the free downloadable poster, and by promoting the campaign across library websites, newsletters and social media accounts. ALIA previously supported the pledge in 2017, for more information see the ALIA website, you can support the campaign on Twitter using #StorytimePledge.
