Safer Internet Day 2019

The Australian Library and Information Association is pleased to support Safer Internet Day on 5 February 2019. This day celebrates and recognises the importance of communally creating a safer and more efficient internet.

The theme for Safer Internet Day 2019 is ‘together for a better internet’.

There is a range of free downloadable resources for the day, and you can engage on social media with the hashtags #SID2019 or #SaferInternetDay.

“Libraries are places of digital inclusion: there are some 13,000 public access internet devices in Australia’s 1500 public libraries[1]; more than 1100 libraries have signed up to the eSmart Libraries program[2], and other activities include eSafe Spaces[3] with the Office of the eSafety Commissioner.

“We provide the technology, help and advice that people need in order to navigate the internet safely,” Sue McKerracher, ALIA CEO, said.

The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is the official Committee for Safer Internet Day in Australian. For more information see the website.
