KSSA Library is located in the Knox Senior Secondary Academy (KSSA) which was created to foster and encourage independence in senior students while supporting innovative teaching and learning in a cultre of academic excellence.
The library is an integral component of this philosophy offering a variety of flexible spaces for students in Years 11 and 12 to relax, research, reflect and regroup, and to study both individually and collaboratively. Mobile glass boards facilitate group revision and instruction and large screens enable students to prepare presentations.
The facility provides a balanced subject-based print collection of Preliminary and HSC resources including up-to-date study guides, magazines and exam papers as well as access to online resources including academic journals, research databases and curriculum support materials.
During scheduled class time each day, up to 300 students use the library for study with many more spending their free time taking advantage of the purposeful atmosphere. Extended opening hours until late in the evening provide students with the opportunity to consult with teachers for extra tuition and support.
In line with current MakerSpace practice, the library incorporates an area where students can access alternate activities such as chess, Scrabble and Lego, developing skills while having fun.
