The Portland Library is a branch of Glenelg Libraries and based in the coastal regional city of Portland in the Shire of Glenelg.
The Shire covers an area of 6,216 square kilometres on the border with South Australia and the Wimmera to the north, with major industries of manufacturing, forestry, agriculture and fishing.
Portland is the Shire’s main regional centre with 55% of the Shire’s 19,575 population base of which 17% of residents are aged over 65.
Glenelg Libraries through its three static branches and Library2Go outreach services records visitation of 138,600 annually and a membership of 74% of the Shire’s population.
