Children's Book Illustration Exhibition

 

Love dogs? Come see Dog Tales, an exhibition of 35 original artworks by much-loved children’s book creators Alison Lester, Bob Graham and Ann James.

Artwork, sketches, initial ideas and information about the creators feature.

 

Opens 10 May and closes 23 June 2021 at the Mura Gadi Gallery, the Library, building 8, University of Canberra, Mon-Fri 10.30am-4.30pm. Free entry.

 

University of Canberra students created the exhibition in association with the National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature.

Emeritus Professor and Director of the NCACL, Dr Belle Alderman, states, “This exhibition
reveals the story behind the creative process of making children’s books. It is a story we rarely
see.”
 
 
About NCACL: The National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature Inc is home to many of
Australia’s best-loved artworks from children’s books. The collection includes framed artworks,
paintings, sketches, preliminary drawings, research material, books and even toys. Artists who
have donated their collections include Bob Graham and Alison Lester as well as Jackie French
and Christopher Cheng who are ambassadors of the NCACL. Work is done by volunteers, who
share an equal passion for the authors, artists and their creative process behind making great
pieces of literature.
