This morning seminar is for primary and secondary teacher librarians and others who are responsible for school library services and/or engaging students in reading and developing a love of literature. Author Fiona Wood will talk about her writing and research process. There will be an opportunity for signings. Find out how three schools promote reading in their school communities. A workshop to share successful reading strategies and to prepare resources for this year's CBCA theme, Escape to Everywhere.

9.00am  Keynote address Escapism through writing
Speaker: Fiona Wood, author and winner of CBCA 2016 Book of the Year: Older Reader
During this session Fiona will engage participants with her thoughts on reading and writing. She will discuss the role and importance of research for her books, her writing ideas and process.

10.00am  Morning tea

10.30am  Panel: What route(s) does your school library take?
Panellists:

In this session panellists will discuss their school library’s experience with reading and literature.

11.40am  Workshop: Strategies to encourage escaping through reading
The workshop will be based on sharing successful reading strategies and to develop ideas and activities to be used for Book Week 2017.

12.50pm  Plenary
Wrap up of seminar, completion of evaluation forms and collection of Certificate of Participation.
