Employers and other stakeholders with an interest in the employment of health information workforce (HIW) professionals in the Australian health system are invited to a Summit to behosted by HIW peak organisations HIMAA, ACHI, HISA and ALIA/HLA with the support of ACHSM.

Aim: To develop a joint action plan for employers and the health information profession’s peak bodies to address HIW shortage and meet configuration changes required by eHealth reform and the rapid digitisation of health information.

Date: Friday 11 November 2016

Time: 10.00am to 3.00pm (lunch will be provided)

Venue: Crown Promenade Hotel, Melbourne

Cost: $150 inc. GST / free to members of host organisations

Issue: Increasing workforce shortage in key HIW such as Clinical Coders, Health Information Managers (HIMs), Health Librarians,and Health Informaticians - the frontline in the digitisation of health information that will enable outcomes success in quality of care and economic benefits from eHealth reform -means that the reform will fail and its benefits remain unfulfilled. The HIW Summit in October 2015 generated 85 actions to address HIW shortage and future configuration, which resulted in 27 wide ranging suggestions to employers of health information management professionals about ways in which they can contribute. The 2016 HIW Summit is designed to assess employer interest in engagement with their HIW to address shortages and future configuration.
