ALIA Schools - Be the change: Promoting cultural change in your library

This ​morning ​seminar ​is ​for ​primary ​and ​secondary ​teacher ​librarians ​and ​others ​who ​are ​responsible ​for ​school ​library ​services. ​Continual ​improvement ​is ​at ​the ​heart ​of ​how ​schools ​operate ​today. ​Identifying ​how ​school ​libraries ​can ​establish ​a ​cycle ​of ​continual ​improvement ​will ​be ​explored. ​Sessions ​will ​include ​keynote ​addresses, ​panel ​session ​and ​workshop.

HLA PD Day 2015

Your HLA Executive is hard at work planning the Professional Development Day for 2015. We are pleased to announce that it will be held on Thursday 9 July at QUT in Brisbane as a satellite event of the 8th International Evidence Based Library and Information Practice Conference. In keeping with previous events, the HLA Professional Development Day will be a low-cost, high-value opportunity to keep you up to date, acquire new skills and network with vendors and colleagues. 
 

ALIA/Wikipedia Information Evening Session - Perth

Come and listen to Gideon Digby, Vice President of Wikimedia Australia, who will discuss

·         how libraries and Wikimedia are helping each other

River of Opportunities

The River of Opportunities events have been held in a variety of regional locations and is traditionally held in alternate years to the National Library and Information Technicians symposium. In 2014, we will hold the eighth River of Opportunities event in Geelong. The program will enable delegates to examine new initiatives that might be utilised in their own workplace and provide a forum to discuss issues and ideas with colleagues from similar libraries, over one and a half days.

ALIA Top End PD: Free online legal resources for non-law librarians

Ever have people in the library looking for legal material and not sure where to start? This short professional development session will introduce you to some of the freely available resource for conduscting legal research online. This session will be delivered by Rachel Klesch, a liaison librarian at Charles Darwin University. 

 

Cost: gold coin donation for ALIA members and $5 dollars for non-ALIA members.
