Toowoomba, being 700 metres above sea level, does not experience the degree of humidity of other regions of Queensland. Regional public transport is frequent and reliable, with connections to interstate and international transport networks. The city has three hospitals, a University (The University of Southern Queensland) and an extensive city infrastructure. It is known as “The Garden City” of Queensland and has a population of around 120,000.
Toowoomba Grammar School is a non-denominational school for boys from Prep to Year 12, with a current enrolment of over 1150. Boarders from throughout Australia constitute approximately one-third of the Senior School enrolment. It is one of the nine member schools of the GPS Association of Queensland.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced teachers for the position of Head of Library and Information Services to commence at the beginning of Term 3, 8 October 2019. The Head of Library and Information Services is part of the academic leadership team which strives to promote the educational vision of the School and provide strong leadership in the implementation of that vision. The Head of Library and Information Services will be a person of integrity and professional credibility who will bring to the position zest, enthusiasm and energy and will embrace the ideals of collaboration, co-operation, integrity and team-work. Their role will extend to providing leadership, developing a climate of excellence, and articulating a vision for an education that is inclusive, rigorous and equips students in the 21st Century.
Educational/Professional experience and qualities required
- Tertiary qualifications in one or more relevant disciplines including post-graduate qualifications in Teacher Librarianship.
- Applicants without teacher registration and who satisfy the Educational/Professional requirements of the role may be considered.
- Eligibility for membership of ALIA and ASLA.
- Experience as a Teacher Librarian and with an infectious passion for reading, literature and technology in education.
- Applicants must be registered (or eligible to be registered) with the Queensland College of Teachers.
