Talent thrives here – and so do truly satisfying careers.
The Monash University School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Monash University Library are recruiting for a Health Data Librarian to undertake a 1 year project. This project will examine the current research and related data management practices at the School, and make recommendations about how best to manage data going forward. It is anticipated that this advice will be made available to other Schools within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. The role will also be tasked with bringing the knowledge gained back to the Library, for use in other engagements.
SPHPM is the Faculty's principal source of skills in epidemiology (including clinical epidemiology), biostatistics and large scale clinical data-management. At any given time there are around 600 studies being undertaken, of various sizes. There are substantial archives of digital and paper study materials that are essentially inaccessible to researchers. The forthcoming Monash Health Data Platform solution and “Safe Haven” will need to be incorporated into the data management practices of the School.
The role will primarily be based at the School in the Alfred Hospital precinct, but will spend at least one day a week in the Hargrave Andrew Library at Clayton as part of the Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences team, and will visit other sites and research groups as required. The project will report to the research governance body at SPHPM, but will be part of the Library for administrative purposes.
Expected outcomes of the project:
Report on current data management practices in the school, building on work done in 2014
Recommendations on future practices
Pilot of recommendations with selected projects or studies
Pilot of proposed management of existing digital and paper based research materials
Initial implementation of solution based on pilot experiences
If you believe you can fulfil these requirements, you are strongly encouraged to apply.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
