For many Members, personal involvement in the Association is an important part of their membership - taking part in groups, conferences and other events; playing an active role in FAIR campaigns. At the same time, volunteers are essential to ALIA's success. We couldn't do half the things we do without energetic, committed Members leading the way.
These are some of the ways you can become an active Member of ALIA.
Join a group
There are more than 40 ALIA Groups to choose from. Some are geographically based and have physical meetings; others are virtual and discussions take place online. It's a good way to meet new people who share your professional interests. You will find a friendly welcome from the Convenor and other members of the group and your contribution to the discussion will always be valued.
At any one time, we estimate there are some 250 ALIA volunteers, sitting on the ALIA Board or its Advisory Committees, providing editorial guidance for our academic journals, running ALIA Groups, helping out with special projects, and being part of the team organising and staffing our conferences and events. If you would like to volunteer for any of these activities, we would love to hear from you. Just send us an email.
