Groups in the ACT
ALIA has a strong membership in the ACT and due to the compact size of the Territory, there is a strong affiliation between all ALIA Groups. There is also cross-representation between the ALIA Groups and some specialist non-ALIA Groups such as the Australian Government Libraries Network (AGLIN); Australian Law Librarians Group ACT (ALLA) and the Canberra Library Tribe.
- ACTive ALIA
Aims to provide communication among library professionals from all sectors, arrange professional development activities and promote the role of libraries and ALIA membership. Events include annual forums in conjunction with AGLIN and ALIA URLs, social events and other networking opportunities
- ALIA Asia Pacific Special Interest Group
Aims to provide a forum for members to discuss regional professional issues, host public talks relating to relevant issues and produce a membership newsletter three times per year.
- ALIA University and Research Libraries ACT
Aims to provide networking and training opportunities for library staff interested in issues and trends affecting the development of university and research libraries. ALIA URLs also wants to enhance inter-institutional information exchange within the region, and liaises with relevant organisations. Planned activities include seminars, monthly lunch time lectures with guest speakers, and workshops on topics relevant to the sector.
- ALIA Students and New Graduates ACT
Aims to provide Students and Newgrads with chances to network and socialise with Professionals in the industry. Planned activities include Resume Workshops, Key Selection Criteria Workshops, Movie nights and more. Contact us here: email: firstname.lastname@example.org
- ALIA Canberra and Region Retirees
The ALIA Canberra and Region Retirees Group aims to provide social gatherings for all retired library people who would like to keep in touch with other retirees. Retirees in Canberra and the surrounding NSW regions form the core of ALIACRR. Visitors from further afield will always be welcome.
