Canberra, March 30: We are delighted to announce that three of our Members were made Fellows of the Australian Library and Information Association at the most recent Board meeting in March.
The distinction of Fellow is conferred on a Member who has reached an exceptionally high standard of proficiency in library and information science, and directly contributed to the aims and objectives of ALIA. Congratulations to the following Members:
• Tricia Genat (VIC)– recognised for her contribution to the Australian and New Zealand book industry including bookselling, publishing, distribution and online services, and her work with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
• Sue Hutley (QLD)– recognised for her contribution to and leadership in special, public and academic libraries and her development of initiatives and advocacy for disaster planning and recovery for the GLAM sector.
• Pru Mitchell (VIC) – recognised for her contribution to education and research and her leadership in the areas of digital repositories, collection management and open education resources
These members will be added to the ALIA Honours Board second edition and they will be presented with their citations and Fellowship pins at events with colleagues this year. Nominations for ALIA Fellowships are accepted all year round, and more than one fellowship can be offered over a 12-month period.
