Uncover something new for Library Lovers’ Day 2020

Canberra, 30 October 2019: Library Lovers’ Day, running 14 February 2020, is an opportunity for libraries and library users to ‘uncover something new’ at their local library. Organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), this annual event involves hundreds of libraries and thousands of library users.

To help celebrate Library Lovers' Day, ALIA has created free downloadable materials including printable wrapping paper designs and tags so you can create a ‘blind date with a book experience’ for patrons. We have also created recommendation cards which your patrons can use to recommend books to each other, and pick up a new recommendation.
Sue McKerracher, ALIA CEO, says ‘Every year ALIA’s Library Lovers’ Day is celebrated in and around libraries right across Australia. Most people’s first thought is of public libraries, but there are school, university, TAFE, health, government, law and other special libraries – all much loved and appreciated by their users’.

As always, ALIA will be asking all library and information professionals to share their Library Lovers' Day stories on social media, using the hashtag #LibraryLoversDay.
