Event Description

For many health libraries the use of tools to help streamline reference services is common place. Come and hear from colleagues about what tools they use, why they use them, and the positives and negatives of each product.

Biographies

Helen Skoglund is the Manager of Library Services at Barwon Health. Helen has worked at Barwon Health Library for 23 years, and over her time Helen has worked in all areas of the Library service from being the Reference Librarian, the eServices Librarian, and now the Manager. She is passionate about providing a high quality, accessible and timely library service to the healthcare professionals to enable them to provide high quality health care to their clients.  

Thomas Ang is a Library Technician with more than 10 years’ experience at Cairns Hospital Library & Knowledge Centre (LKC). He has well-developed IT skills and a background in retail, so he has a keen understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service. Thomas is experienced in the administration and use of LibChat and other LibApps products since their implementation at the LKC in early 2014, and has a particular interest in leveraging technology to improve library services both for clients and library staff.  

Keren Moskal is a clinical librarian at Monash Health committed to delivering high quality health information to support patient care, research and education. She is focused on delivering user centered training and education programs in evidence-based practice, information and digital literacy and is the recipient of the ALIA HLA Anne Harrison Award for development of a EBP training syllabus in healthcare. A strong advocate for librarianship, Keren sits on numerous committees including VALA and ALIA Student and New Graduates Group and together with her colleague Gillian Kilby, co-founded the Hospital Librarians' Community of Practice, which has grown to over 80 members across Australasia.  

Jana Herber is the Acting Manager of Electronic Resources at the SA Health Library Service. She has been working in health libraries since obtaining her qualifications in 2013 and with the SA Health Library Service since 2016. Jana is passionate about using technology in libraries as a way to make the lives of library patrons and library staff easier.
