Peter Judge MA, FIInfSc.Editor and information consultant, Canberra, Australia.Welcome to my web site...For the last fifteen years I have been a freelance editor and information consultant. My early training was as a scientist. I obtained First Class Honours in the Cambridge University Natural Sciences Tripos (Zoology and Physiology full subjects, botany and organic chemistry half subjects in Part 1, Zoology and Physiology in Part 2), followed by 2 years' postgraduate study at Cambridge. I also studied statistics in my postgraduate years, and subsequently attended courses in Operational Research and the Design of Experiments. I worked for 5 years in Operational Research in the UK steel industry, the last three as Head of a divisional OR group. I then joined OECD in Paris, as a Principal Administrator in the Directorate for Scientific Affairs, where I stayed for almost 12 years. For most of that time I was responsible for setting up and running the Information Policy Group, a section of the OECD Science Policy Committee. This group encouraged a coordinated approach to governmental support for scientific and technical information services, which were just beginning to be established in member countries, using the early computer programs then available. In 1974 I was invited to Australia by CSIRO to head their new Central Information, Library and Editorial Section, at the level of Senior Assistant Secretary, SES 3. I remained with CSIRO until 1988. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Information Scientists (UK), and a Fellow of ANZAAS. In April 2002 the French Government honoured me by appointing me a Chevalier of the National Order of Merit, for services to France in promoting French science and scientific exchanges with Australia, particularly in connection with the publication French Science and Technology and my work as secretary of the ACT branch of AFAS, the Australian-French Association for Science and Technology, of which I am still the Hon. Treasurer. I am a founder member and was president 1996-98 of the Canberra Society of Editors, whose web site I designed and manage. I am an active Rotarian, Past President (2006-07) of the Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak and a Paul Harris Fellow. I am also a voluntary guide at the Australian War Memorial and teach courses in elementary French and German in the University of the Third Age. For details of my recent editing
