The Woollahra local government area (LGA) has 59,307 residents (ABS 2015), and includes some of the Australia’s wealthiest areas. There are a large number of public and private schools within our community and the library service is a critical resource for students and their families.
Woollahra Library at Double Bay is the central library service point for the LGA, with two smaller satellite libraries in Watsons Bay and Paddington. Our Local History Centre, previously located at a separate site, was re-integrated into the new Library as part of the new build. The new state-of-the-art Woollahra Library at Double Bay has quickly become a vibrant part of community life .
Our library supports the lifelong learning needs of our community and our vision is ‘connecting people and ideas’. In addition to a traditional Library collection of books, serials and audio-visual materials, we have a complimentary digital collection recognising the way people are learning is changing. The library facilitates community learning through informal training courses and community talks, and provides flexible spaces for group and personal study.
