Canberra was alot of laughs

ALIA and the NLA hosted 50 library people and friends to a big screen viewing at the National Library Conference Room.  Roxanne Missingham, ALIA President and Sue Hutley, ALIA Executive Director welcomed the guests.   Sniggers, belly laughes, groans and cackling were all part of the sound effects.  I am sure we all associated with so many of the characters, props and situations of the first episode.  We hope that we might all meet back at the final episode to also ‘do it all again’.

One Canberra opening night participant also has a report here :  http://theshoppingsherpa.blogspot.com/2007/11/librarians.html

At the conclusion of the show we were lucky enough to be farewelled briefly by ABC Managing Director Mark Scott who happened to be in the building for another function.  Thanks Mark !

A small group of Toowoomba (Qld) academic librarians went one better and held a lingerie party in conjunction with watching the show. We had a great time, and were well in the mood by the time the program started.
The episode wasn’t as bad as I’d feared, though the plot was pretty pathetic, the jokes thin and unfunny and the characters single-dimensional. There were quite a lot of in-jokes so if you weren’t a librarian I suspect you’d have been bored witless. I personally loved the paper sign on the door at the beginning, and also the Poetry Competition.
I’d like to think we’ll want to do it again for the final episode, but I fear that the amateurishness of it will have turned even us off by then. Never mind, we can call the party an end-of-the-year party and have it anyway!
