The librarians are coming to town

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Scary isn’t it? But I figure any publicity is good publicity.

Perth Sunday Times is paying attention at any rate, with an article in the paper this weekend

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,22652996-5005382,00.html

I am also having my first facebook group experience as a result of this program. According to the conversation, the Librarians might be the biggest thing to hit us since Dewey. Now there’s a thought.

I hope everyone enjoys opening night….

An interesting article about The Librarians in yesterday’s The Age - Bigotry by the book:

“Middle Australia’s dark side lurks in a comedy set in a library” is the subheading in this article!

Questions to the writers

Friday, October 19th, 2007

We have posed the following questions to the writers, Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, and will let you know their answers when we receive them. We welcome more questions….

  1. We know your show is all about the characters (a “social satire” as you described it), but what made you choose a library as the locale for this series?
  2. How did you research libraries and librarians to develop the script?
  3. Did you think setting the show in a library would create as much interest amongst librarians as it has?
  4. Do you have a favourite library-related memory?
  5. What are you reading now?
  6. And finally, what do you really think of librarians?
