The Summer Reading Club Website 2011
The major delivery tool for the Summer Reading Club will be the website www.summerreadingclub.org.au The website will be live on 1 December 2011.
It is an interactive website offering a variety of reading and writing related activities that will complement the library-based component of the Summer Reading Club. The website is a very important part of the Summer Reading Club as it encourages children to continue reading and writing while they are at home. The activities are fun, informative, and stimulating and will encourage a love of literacy.
The website provides opportunities for children and young people to display their own work via the e-gallery, and entries into various writing activities including What Happens Next?, Whacky Fairy Tales, and Book Raves. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the program to children who enter their work via the website. There will also be an online game and a weekly blog entry by an author that the children can follow along with.
The website also has a page for parents, teachers, and libraries explaining what the Summer Reading Club is all about, as well as a Have Your Say section where anyone (children and adults!) can leave feedback on the program.
