* Introduction/Welcome * Stations: (activities can be done at anytime during the program,including the social time at the end of the program) * Zombie Makeup (Teens can paint their faces white and apply black or dark charcoal gray and green eye shadow to the hollows of their cheeks and eyes * Zombie Target Shooting (Teens can try to shoot a poster of a zombie in the head with a suction cup dart gun) * Zombie Papercrafts (Teens can choose to make a zombie bookmark or a zombie paper doll * Mysterious Eye Fortune Telling * Snacks * Graveyard Cake * Lime Blaster Punch (a Ghoul’s Punch) * Icebreaker Activity (10 mins.) * “What Decomposing Body Part Am I?” (As the teens arrive, affix the name of a body part to their backs. Have the teens ask each other “yes/no” questions about the body part affixed to their backs and then have them try to guess the body part.) * Book Trailers (5 mins.) Powerpoint presentation, adapted from The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks * Group Games & Activities (25 mins.) * Zombie Walk - Explain the basics of walking like a zombie (e.g. do not lock your legs, pretend you have really heavy limbs, never walk in a straight line, GROAN, etc.) * Practice walking like a zombie * Lead a zombie walk around the library (optional) * Offer incentives for the best zombie walk (optional) * Zombies and Humans (variation on Shark and Fish) * Mark two parallel lines on the floor (using tape, rope or a tarp) * Select one teen to be the “zombie” and divide the remaining teens into two groups (the “humans”) * Place the zombie in between the lines and the humans outside of the lines (one group of humans should be on each side) * When the zombie groans, all of the humans must try to run from one line to the other (crossing the zombie’s in between area) * The zombie must zombie walk/shuffle (*remember, zombies cannot run) inside the in between area and try to tag the humans * If humans get tagged, they become decomposing zombies. They must drop to their knees and try to tag humans from the ground (*they must remain on their knees and can only move their upper bodies) * Repeat until the last person becomes a decomposing zombie * If you choose to play another game, the last person becomes the zombie in the next game * Zombie Marco Polo (variation on Marco Polo) * Select one teen to be the zombie * Blindfold the zombie * The zombie must zombie walk/shuffle (*remember, zombies cannot run) with his or her hands outstretched and try to tag the other teens * The zombie can groan to help himself/herself find the other teens * When the zombie groans, all of the other teens must groan back and outstretch their arms * If a teen gets tagged, he or she becomes the zombie in the next game * Flee/Hide (variation on River/Bank) * Mark a line on the floor, separating the room into two areas (using tape or rope) * Designate one person to lead the game * Have all teens stand on the line facing the leader * When the leader yells “Flee”, all teens should run to the right side of the line * When the leader yells “Hide”, all teens should jump and crouch (in a hiding position) to the left side of the line * (Optional) When the leader groans, all teens should groan and outstretch their arms * When the leader yells any other words, the teens should NOT move * If a teen makes an incorrect move, he or she is out of the game * Note: the leader should frequently alternate the words he or she yells and use rhyming words to increase the difficulty level * Dance (25 mins.) * Demonstrate how to do the “Thriller” dance * Show the “Thriller Dance Tutorial” video x 2 (7:36) * While watching the video, practice the moves as a group * Show the “Thriller” music video (13:41) * Welcome teens to dance along with the video * (Optional) Offer incentives for the “best” zombie dancers * (Optional) Secretly select a spot (or spots) and offer incentives to the teen (or teens) dancing closet to that spot (or spots) * Crowning of Zombie Prom King & Queen (5 mins.) * Vote on the Zombie Prom King and Queen - look at makeup/costume, as well as participation and performance in group games, activities and dance * Offer paper crowns and small prizes to the Zombie Prom King and Queen * Social (10 mins.) Offer teens time to: chat, eat, dance or complete station activities
