Haunted House/ Halloween Theme
* Stage a photo for the local media with library staff and clients in monster masks * Set up the library into a haunted house * Scary Movie Night, more appropriate for older children
Wildlife Theme
* Have the local RSPCA bring some reptiles to the library and take some photos * Have a magician or equivalent come to the libray to make hand shadows of scary animals. * Indigenous Australian theme: have a local Aboriginal elder promote a Dreamtime themed event [Note: Refer to Interpreting the Theme page for a suggested contact list.]
Campfire Theme
* Get the local scout or girl guides group help promote * Set up a late night event at the library where children can sit around an artificial 'bon fire' and bring their sleeping bags to hear ghost stories.
Ancient Egyptian Theme
* Ancient Egypt treasure hunt throughout the library. Using heiroglyphics and symbols as puzzles and clues. * Egyptian Dancing * Have an expert come in to the library and talk about phraohs, mummies etc.
Mad Scientist Theme
* Have a science day. Get a local science teacher or equivalent, to set up science experiments in the library for the children to get invovled with.
Alien Theme
* Promote a book as an unidentified flying object. * Have a UFO Spotting in the library. Rather than looking out for a UFO, look out for a particular book.
Zombie librarians
* Challenge your young readers - if they read enough books you will dress up as a zombie librarian * Attack of the zombie librarians * Display zombie and moster books like this
