Volume 38 Nº 2: July 2002 Web Usability and Children: Current Research and Implications for Information ProfessionalsPaula PfoefferThe internet has now become an important information resource for students, teachers and parents. The sheer amount of information on the net makes it vital for information professionals to be able to publicise what is out there, and provide access points to useful sites on the net through links such as on library home pages or in the online catalogue. Further, with the internet becoming more frequently used in schools, at home and in libraries, we have to ask ourselves: what makes a good web site, and how are users, particularly children, accessing information on sites. Paula Pfoeffer is senior librarian - Children's and Youth Services at Stanton Library, North Sydney Council. |
