April cover

Frontline with ALIA President, Jan Richards    [PDF 1.2MB]
Our President, Jan, works in a regional library, so she has plenty to say about the benefits and value of rural and regional libraries, including job variety, community connection, opportunities, and unexpected wildlife encounters. She also offers her best wishes for the season.

Directline with ALIA Executive Director, Sue Hutley    [PDF 1.2MB]
Sue also has experience in regional libraries, and she thanks the contributors for reminding her of the community she grew up in. Though both Sue and Jan are positive about the rural and regional experience, Sue notes that isolation can be disheartening. She outlines a few ways that rural, regional, and one-person library staff can connect with their peers and with the Association.
