The operations of the Association continue to be based on representing the interests of members engaged in the library and information science profession. The decrease in revenue for 1998 as shown above, is primarily due to a decrease in other revenue
specifically a fall in rental income and interest income.
Matters subsequent to the end of the financial year
The Association expanded operations to include the copyright functions previously performed by the Australian Council of Library and Information Services (ACLIS) on 1 January 1999. At the date of this report there is no matter or circumstance which has
arisen since 31 December 1998 that has significantly affected or may significantly affect the results of those operations or the state of affairs of the Association in subsequent years.
General councillors' benefits
Since 31 December 1997, no councillor of the Association has received, or become entitled to receive, a benefit because of a contract that the councillor, a firm with which the councillor is a member, or an entity in which the councillor has a
substantial financial interest, has made during the year ended 31 December 1998, or at any other time with the Association.

Indemnification and insurance of officers
During the year the Association paid insurance premiums totalling $4235 in respect of directors' and officers' liability insurance. The directors' and officers' liability insurance provides cover against all costs and expenses involved in defending
legal actions and any resulting payments arising from a liability to persons (other than the Association or a related body corporate) incurred in their position as general councillor or executive officer unless the conduct involved willful breach of duty
or improper use of inside information or position to gain advantage. The policy does not specify the premium for individual and general councillors and executive officers.
