ALIA general councillors' report

The councillors present their report on the Australian Library and Information Association's [the Association] accounts for the year ended 31 December 1996.

Principal activity

The principal continuing activity of the Association during the past year was representing the interests of members engaged in the library and information science profession.

Review of operations

The operations of the Association continue to be based on representing the interests of members engaged in the library and information science profession. The results of these operations are considered to be satisfactory.

Matters subsequent to the end of the financial year

At the date of this report there is no matter or circumstance which has arisen since 31 December 1996 that has significantly affected or may significantly affect the operations in financial year subsequent to 31 December 1996 of the Association, the results of those operations or the state of affairs of the Association.

General councillors' benefits

Since 31 December 1995, no councillor of the Association has received, or become entitled to receive, a benefit because of a contract that the councillor, a firm with which the councillor is a member, or an entity in which the councillor has a substantial financial interest, has made during the year ended 31 December 1996, or at any other time with the Association.
