University of Newcastle chooses Scopus

The University of Newcastle will be the first customer to license Scopus in the Asia Pacific region. Scopus is a new navigational product from Elsevier, and is claimed to be the world's largest abstract and indexing database covering 27 million abstracts and citations from over 14 000 STM and social science journal titles and conference proceedings, from over 4 000 international publishers. Navigation through the available scientific literature is enabled by means of new searching and browsing functionality.

The University of Newcastle was among the first institutions to trial Scopus in Australasia when the pre-release version of Scopus became available earlier this year.
