Libraries say thank-you!

Thanks for your support of Library and Information Week 2001

Wednesday 16 May is Thank-you Day, a special day for Library and Information Week 2001 and an opportunity for the library and information sector to thank those who support their services.

The library and information sector would like to say a special thank you to you, and other Australian journalists who stand up for everyone's right to information and who have helped to support Library and Information Week 2001.

Libraries around the country are using Thank-you Day to acknowledge the support of governments, decision makers, and funding bodies, as well as the many volunteers who help to provide essential library services.

Library and Information Week highlights the dynamic, energetic and information-rich environment of the twenty-first century library and the vital role library and information services play as knowledge centres in our society - worthy of continued investment.

Events for the remainder of the week include the National Simultaneous Storytime, 2:00pm AEST Thursday 17 May and Online Day, Friday 18 May.

Information about Library and Information Week and associated activities can be found on the ALIA website: http://alia.org.au/advocacy/alw/2001/.
