ALIA Top End Meeting

1. Present: Linda Marchesani, Julie Adams, Sue Chilman, Sarah White, Giselle Pryor, Jayshree Mamtora, Cathy Hilder, Emma Jacob, Stephen Barnett, Andrew Finegan, Peter Walton, Jo McGill

3. Business:
   1. Management
      1. 2007 Committee nominations have been called for. End date is 13th of November. ALL: encourage nominations
      2. LLO appointment soon to be announced.
      3. Annual report, group application, budget. Executive team completed planning. Will be opportunity for new exec team to review documents before they are sent in. Sarah and Linda to write up.
      4. Teacher Librarian Lobbying. ASLA have asked for support from ALIA as Teacher Librarian positions are disappearing. Giselle spoke about the seriousness and urgency of the situation. ALIA National Office will work with ASLA nationally to lobby NT Government and Education Department. Linda to contact Giselle with details of National Office's needs. Giselle to provide contact names for Teacher Librarians who will liaise with ALIA.
   2. Professional Development
      1. Symposium Update: Peter Walton (Librarian from the Organising Committee) gave a verbal report on the symposium. Final details of numbers and finances not yet available, but approximately 70 people attended. Papers will be on the web soon. Overall a great success; however there are many opportunities for better management. The committee will document the lessons learnt and put in place planning documents and procedures for the benefit of future symposiums.
         
         There is a lot of interest for the 2007 committee.

      2. Linda, Cathy and Jo gave a presentation at the beginning of the meeting on the Perth ALIA Biannual Conference.
      3. Tour and explanation of renovations at the Northern Territory Library was provided before the meeting.
   3. Events and Activities
      1. 1. Christmas dinner: Fantastic dinner planned this year with the welcoming of new graduates and awarding of silver pins. 22 of November. Details on elist.All: Spread the word and send in RSVPs.
      2. Presentation of artwork at the Palmerston Library in commemoration of Lyn McIntosh will be held in December. Details to be finalized.
   4. Communication
      1. Interface: November issue out in a couple of weeks Jayshree is working on.
      2. Ed Forum and Symposium articles will be sent to incite.
